The Our Lady of Sorrows religious float is a beautiful Pietà, a replica of that which existed in a Murcian village by the Master Salcillo, carved by Mr. José Gerique in 1903 and owned by the Brotherhood of the True Cross. It is an effigy of extraordinary beauty which is breathtaking. The Cross stands four metres high, and at its feet are the effigies of the Virgin Mary and the recumbent Christ. This magnificent ensemble is carried on the shoulders of 36 brothers and their slow and measured pace is noteworthy, accompanied by the excellent marches of the Symphonic Band of the City of Plasencia. The current thrones are also the work of the Benavente Cooperative workers, donated to the Brotherhood by the Conejero family of Plasencia.
