Christ of The Column

The Flagellation

The Flagellation religious float also known as “Los azotes” (The Whipping), is the work of the Valencian sculptor Mr. José Jerique and dates back from the 19 th century. It depicts Jesus being whipped by two executioners. It is a Tableau procession float made of polychrome cedar wood and is inspired by a Salzillo religious float of whom Jerique was a disciple. The religious float is owned by the Delgado family and parades on Holy Tuesday with the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of the Column.
